I was par of a panel on how to mobilize and empower University students, with a specific focus on the role of curriculum, community, and career support in building a plant-centric future. She will discuss the growth of the Plant Futures curriculum and student chapter network of 50+ Universities across the world, and provide specific ways for students and professional partners to get involved with the movement.
Animal Advocacy in Universities: Training The Future Leaders Friday May 17th, 12:15-1:00PM · Kathy Hessler, George Washington University
· Faraz Harsini, Founder and CEO, Allied Scholars for Animal Protection (ASAP)
· Samantha Derrick, Founder and Executive Director, Plant Futures Initiative
· Monica Chen, Executive Director, New Roots Institute
Kathy Hessler talked about the work of the Animal Legal Education Initiative like how they integrate animal law into legal education, support those who teach it, both full time faculty and adjunct faculty, support students in school and as they transition into careers, develop curriculum thoughtfully, collaborate with others and offer (and broaden) access to these concepts and develop a pipeline by working with a local DC high school.
